5199 AGM

Saturday 17th September saw the 5199 AGM of 2011 held at the CVR. The Shareholders were invited for free travel on the CVR for the day behind their loco, and the AGM was held on the 11:10 departure from Kingsley & Froghall in the lines recently restored FK which was reserved for the group. Footplate rides were also offered to those members wishing a ride 'up front'. The day though started at 6am for some, as myself and Will got up early to come down and help prepare the loco in the morning. Along with CVR driver Chris Meadowcroft, we assisted the day's rostered crew in cleaning her for the days service ahead. We also blew the cobwebs away from the CVR's 'Cambrian Coast Express' headboard which saw the light of the day for the first time in a few months.

The meeting itself went without incidents, with the Chairman confirming the plans for 5199's return to Llangollen in the new year where she will be repainted into BR unlined Black in preparation for her appearance at SSS3. After this she will be staying at Llangollen Railway for a minimum of 2 years, however she will be available for short term hires to other railways for galas etc. The Group is also going to be looking into ideas for merchandise as other forms of income. More on this as it happens.

A short video of the day is now on the 5199 in Action page.
