2nd November 2010

A major leap forward today.

Almost three months ago the boiler that came off… went back on!

This gives us all a glimmer of hope that 5199 will make the gala in just under a fortnight!

A massive thanks to Bernie Littler on the crane, Mark Tweedy, Chris Simcock and Derek Gardner plus Andrew. Fitting an ashpan with 14tons of boiler floating above you is a little bit scary, but all in it took us about 4 hours from start to finish to complete this task.

Mark immediately set to work securing the boiler with the new bolts from RCF Tipton, while Derek and I concentrated on the final Lagging and fitting the balance pipe. We are looking to fit the tanks tomorrow.

If you are able to assist in anyway it would be much appreciated

Regards

Will
